28 Jul 06 - Insensitive
We are wrapping up another month here in Iraq. I had some readers ask for more meat and potatoes on the write ups. They love the write ups don’t get me wrong but I guess I should be more informative on day to day events as they ask. The problem is a lot of day to day stuff would feed info to the insurgents so we have to be careful what we write. If I give them a progress report they will know how effective they are or are not. Anyways here are a few real updates from this week. We had a Marine get hit square in the chest by a sniper shot the other day but he was able to get up and run for cover. Yes they knock you down for some reason but the ballistic protection does its job. Stopped it cold of course the Marine has a big bruise in the middle of his chest but he is great shape. The sniper you ask, he ran into a mosque to hide because he knows we don’t go into them. Why don’t we go into them you ask? Because we would be insensitive, there’s that word again, to them if we did. We are we sensitive to them, even after a known shooter, ran into it? Because there are a few people back home, who are not getting shot by snipers, who are upset and are throwing tantrums about us being insensitive. Why are they not here you ask? We’ll I guess they are to busy burning our flag. We did call the local police, so we could be sensitive, who had 6 guys search the entire place in about, um 30 seconds and came out and said they found nothing. Now how do you suppose he got out when we had the place surrounded?
Then their was Wed night were I was up on the roof playing my Americantology to the Marines, you remember the 30 watt killer stereo that drowned out the hundred mosque in Fallujah, people were holding their ears rolling in the street due to the loudness of the noise. No wait that was the two bugs in front of the cardboard box it sits on. Anyways to the North of our building we heard a big explosion, the building shook a little, and a large flash of light flew through the darkness about 22:30 that night. It was an insurgent placing a very large artillery IED in the street and it suddenly went off. Oops, now I don’t want to be insensitive here to this guy but I never had anyone blow themselves up during Americantology before. I can’t begin to tell you how upset we were here with the whole thing, trying to be more sensitive an all. I would like to think he heard it playing but since it only can only be heard by Americans and dogs that wasn’t the reason. But maybe that was the reason, he couldn’t hear it and he knew we were playing it. Everybody wants to come to the greatest country in the world and stand under the statue of liberty as that flag waves. So we finished our night and went to grab a few hours of rack out time, those that weren’t on post that is. We were out about 0430 again when we heard another large boom in the north again. See we go out before all the civilians get up to sweep streets for IED’s or to get bad guys so that we cut down on casualties to the civilians. But who would have guessed it, it happened again about 0430, no I was not playing Americantology at that time, another couple of guys planting IED’s blew them selves up. The police went out and picked them up, for a while, and then everyone went on as usual because that is the usual.
I think it is good that I cover more of the real stuff as I no longer have the Hartford Courant on deck to put out the vivid stories, but I am working on this writing thing and I am trying to be as impartial as they were, but that is a little hard seeing I am slightly involved in this. I have re-read a few of the stories by Jesse, as he helped me out with this stuff more than he knows, to get the hang of it but I have to add a little humor as this place is serious. But then again maybe it is not humor. I did read some of the other official writers on the Hartford Courant site, I call them official as they probable have degrees in writing and I don’t but I figure that makes my writing better as I have to write the way I think with no rules. You have to know the rules about writing to follow them. Anyways after reading a few of them, I noticed they are no holds barred, so I figure I have a flak jacket and a helmet I can piss people off. People who don’t like my readers or their families. You attack one of mine, which includes families, veterans, service members, Marines, or anyone who calls himself a red blooded American you are open game.
AMERICANTOLOGY is here to stay. It is the wave of the future. “For Love of Country” that is the Americantology motto. Don’t like it, call us and we will pack your bags for you. For those of you who think it is insensitive to bad, cry on someone’s shoulder who cares. Americantology is about America not Iraq. My army is growing also, as it is all over the United States now so yes you do have something to worry about. Because that means we are even better prepared to support our Nation for the next couple of hundred years. I will ensure it just to piss you off. Veteran groups are already joining each other to battle on capital hill and this will just add to the patriotism of this country. Those funeral protesters and the rest of the radicals have to be concerned as this grows that they will loose ground and I believe that is the only reason they would be against patriotism. Some one wrote they didn’t know how to feel about the story on Americantology, Ok the nation will pause while you make your decision there buddy.
Next quote “We are going to loose this war like Vietnam”. Hello buddy last I remember the Americans were kicking butts at the rapid rate over there. Maybe you didn’t see the whole picture as you were stuck on one little piece, little piece of the mall in DC. Communism was going to sweep all of Asia like dominos, but they couldn’t because our veterans were kicking their butts so bad in Vietnam that they had to send all they had there. Thus we may not have kept them out of Vietnam but they were totally wore out and weaken to the point that they could go no further. So the battle was small in comparison to the war on Communism, which was won! Thank them that off of Asia doesn’t have a red flag.
To all the families your Marines are doing great! Yes we can’t wait to come home and that date is rapidly approaching. I have seen a few Marines of the other companies and morale continues to be high. The packages and mail continue to raise morale and make the job at hand that much easier. Which leads me to one more topic a few people have said they can’t send the Marines a package because they don’t support the president, then don’t put the presidents name on the box put one of my Marines names on the box. I have supported every president since 1984 and have not cared who was in office, he was the President of the United States! The President doesn’t live here and I promise not to give him any of your junk food if he shows up if that will make you happy.
