30 Jul 06 - Believe in your Country

Daily Corner

Not to much has happened the last two days here in Fallujah, but that is by our standards. A couple of Mortar rounds yesterday and a couple today had Marines scattering for doors but hey no hits yet (Knock on wood) The luck of the Irish, the horseshoe and the good Ole USA are upon us. When you believe in YOUR COUNTRY it takes care of the rest. The local police have been in a lot of shooting back and forth lately here with either insurgents or ghost of Insurgents past. Of course these guys shoot to celebrate, when they’re mad, or when they’re sad so you have to go and check for what occasion it is daily. Lately it has been quite of bit of it all though. At least they know not to point them things our way because we don’t play that and we can hit what we aim at. We don’t even bother getting up from the dinner plate when it goes that is how accustomed the Marines have become to it. You can tell direction and distance from anywhere now. Mortars though are a little different, as any veteran can tell you as the first one hits its run for a door as you have no clue where Erkle will send the next one.

It is hard to say what the current status of the city is as it can be peaceful for days or heat up on a moments notice. More and more people give us info though and you can tell they are still scared as the insurgents have guns and they don’t. Talking to a gentleman today who speaks some English he said the people are so tired of the terrorist just killing people and running around doing what ever they want because they have guns. He wants some things to go back to the old days because we capture them and then they get to go free again after a while. They want the captured ones killed that is the only message they understand he says. I can’t even try to explain our more sensitive way of doing things, that people back there complain about being to insensitive. Now isn’t that a puzzling statement.

Anyways our civilian contractors who pump out our water, trash, and port-a-johns quit so that has put a dampener on things out here. It would be different if we lived out in the woods were you could just go behind a tree and take care of business. Even last time we just went out in the desert and dug a hole. Those ideas don’t work to well in the city though. So we go to the bathroom in bags now and haul them out to a dump out of the city. Got to love it. We the people of America have won a victory as the Hard Rock Café in Washington they took down the picture of Iwo Jima with a Japanese flag after one of our great readers complained and wrote a letter. It took a while for it to come down though. God rest the souls of the over 7000 Marines that gave their life on Iwo to help bring and end to the war. The people and country stood behind their Marines and service men then and with that support the war was brought to an end. The same thing we want in this war, and end to terrorist and a conclusion were we can all go home. Like Vietnam, we will wear out all the terrorist that want to come over here or to Afghanistan so that at the end of the day they will not have to strength or man power to go anywhere else. Just to jog the memories of those that would rather me hand out daisy’s here is a list of the things those sensitive terrorist have done in the last few unchecked years.

Noticed how they are started everywhere else and finally made their way to America. They have been killing Americans for two long and when they came to America, the place where my family sleeps, then it became even more personal. I say we have turned enough cheeks and when we leave Iraq, I hope it is all done, so we can all live in peace. If you want to come play in America’s yard then you better be ready for America to come and play in your yard. There is no greater country nor greater people than the American. We eat what we want, we live where we want, we say what we want, what could be greater? I still look at the great people who helped define this country and bring it together through its trials and tribulations and think that we can once again capture the spirit of America. The spirit of America isn’t about a political group or a war it’s about America. A country that kicked the Brits butt and then turned around and could put a hand out to them as a friend. Our hand has always been out there for anyone to grasp, it’s the choice of others to slap us in the face instead. I can see why the insurgent are scared, a democratic country in the middle of their recruiting land could have devastating effects.
